I am just wondering how to program an aftermarket key that I ordered from a reputable manufacturer. Today I went and tried to get this key programmed by a local programmer who told me that they do not do Mercedes. I went to Mercedes locally, and they told me that they would not be able to program this particular key because it would screw up their schedule and also end up ending and replacing the ignition switch if they did it with the Mercedes star connect. I talked to other programmers that couldn't do it, however they suggested that what the dealer told me earlier, about the screwing up their system, was a ploy in order to follow me a $600 key. There is no doubt that this key that I purchased, and I am assured by this vendor, which is manufactured OEM specs, would program okay. I am just wondering who I could send this key with the VIN number to program it if I had to send it off out of state or otherwise? Anyone have any ideas?

Call local locksmiths. Many of them advertise programming new keys. I suggest a mobile locksmith who works across multipole used and new car dealer lots. They seem to be able to handle the most challenging keys.
Lots of Wannabe OEM'ers on Ebay. I've run into similar situation w.r.t. Windows 10 OS Software. I would return your key and start with replacement key from dealer; about $250.

I still haven't found anyone who can

program the key. I have been to two different local key programmers but they do not include Mercedes Benz. I'm just trying to find a way that I can send this key out legitimately with proof of ownership and whatever else is required. I did not realize that programming an aftermarket legitimate made key from a reputable vendor with be this difficult.
It’s been Mercedes’ mode of operation. Very protective over getting replacement keys.
Sorry you’re having difficulties.
