I've just bought at '87 300TD wagon. Runs great, but my guess is that it could be tweaked for better mileage and pickup than what I'm getting.

So I plan to take it to a dealer to get a 100k mile tuneup. What should I expect them to do, is there anything in particular that I should ask for?

Second question, can anyone recommend a good aftermarket rubber liner I could use for the bed?

Thanks.

Clark,

For that particular model year, I would be most worried about the cylinder head, so ask for a compression and leakdown test. Also the timing chain strech should be checked. If those issues are okay, then the biggest engine worries are basic maintenance issues.

Since it is a wagon, then have the suspension checked out too. The self=leveling suspension can get a little leaky after time and need some refreshing.
