I put some 18" wheels on my 2002 S430 that previously had 16" wheels. After a day or so, my airmatic suspension lowered itself and I was wondering if there was something I could do to raise it back myself without going to the dealer. I put the original wheels back on the car hoping it would somehow help, but it didnt. The dash is now displaying the "stop, car is too low" message. Has anyone experienced this problem and know what to do?

This is probably unrelated to the wheel swap, just coincidence. This is a big problem though. It is likely either you airmatic pump or the relay governing its function has failed. When this happens, the airmatic struts will reach a critical level. Lots of very expensive damage can occur should you continue to drive this car. Get it towed to the dealership immediately. Hopefully you are still under warranty. Normally, when the struts bottom out like that, it will tear the bladders inside of them necessitating their replacement. As MB chose the stupidest way possible to connect them to the lower control arms, they often freeze there and you need new control arms as well. The control arm/thrust arm combination on your front suspension was updated and replacing the control arms will likely repuire replacing the thrust arms too. An alignment will also be in the cards should this worst case scenario take place. I've done quite a few of these sorts of failures at my shop and the bill can quickly escalate into multiple thousands of dollars.

Thank you for your quick and detailed reply. I am still under warranty, so will the things you listed most likely be covered? I have an appointment at my dealer and they advised me to keep the car parked until then like you said but I was unaware the problem was so serious that I should have it towed there.
