My auxillary fan (radiator fan) on my 98 C230 runs on high speed continuously when the ignition is on. The fan starts as soon as the car is started (temp gauge showing cold engine). The a/c can be either on or off, the engine warm or cold, it makes no difference. It appears that the fan control is faulty. The fan does ramp up in speed, starting at a slow speed and increasing in speed over about 10 seconds until it sounds like a prop plane ready to take off!

Since the temp gauge is working, does the fan computer use a different temp sensor than the dashboard gauge? If so, maybe the temp sensor is shot.

Is it possible that it is just the fan controller?

Where is the fan control unit located?

Thanks in advance.
