I have a 1982 300D Turbo, which is making some crazy rattling noises. I discovered that the alternator pivot bolt is sheared off near the threaded receiver. So, the alternator is rattling loudly.

So, I wondered if anyone knew the best way to get the sheared-off bolt out of the receiver end, coz there's not much room to work around that alternator.

Also, what size bolt would I need to get and where is the best place to pick one up.

Thanks for any help!

you may find the bolt at lowes or home depot, but the part number is
N000931 010388 through Mercedes. You will have to move the alternator out of your way to get access to the broken bolt. Its very easy to remove.

Removing Bolt

Hey Tony,

Thanks for the part # and the referral to Home Depot. I'll see if I can find it there.

Part of the broken pivot bolt extends into the alternator, so, I didn't think I could remove the alternator with that still in there.

If I can get access to the broken bolt, how do I actually remove it from the threaded receiver?

Thanks,

Andrew
