Hi All. I am the proud owner of a new C230 Coupe. It runs like a dream and has been everything I could expect minus one thing. My brakes make a lot of noise. I have experienced no diminished braking capacity but this has become rather annoying. I took it to the service center and they told me this was because MB had switched from asbestos to metal brakes. Any one else experiencing this ? Pls let me know. :?
They are being lazy. Brake squeal is not normal. It might need more anti-squeal paste. There is also a clip which can be the culprit. If the pads and or rotors have been glazed, that can be removed to stop the noise.
Thank you for the response. The brakes tend to make more of a grinding sound when I stop as well as when I release the brake to continue driving.
Pls let me know if still should be considered abnormal ( like the squeaking )
My C230 sits most of the time. In one year I have put only 3900 miles on it. Often when I get in it for the first time in a whle, the breaks make a bit of a grinding noise. Thats just the rust on the rotor. After 2-3 stops it all fixed... Funny how my rotors will start to rust and the car has never been in the rain...
