I have the Bose system, the car I test drove had the standard system, I like the upgraded system better. Some members of this forum and the Csportscoupe forum have flamed the Bose System. A lot of the people who own these cars are 20 and under and they’re looking for Super Mega Ultra Bass, I listen to Blues, Classical, Jazz, and Rock and find the Bose sound very good. I also consider a car to be the most imperfect listening space there is, so $600 or $700 is all I would ever consider for a car sound system.
I got the Bose system and it's ok, but don't expect to wake up your neighbors with it. It has really clear sound, the bass isn't real strong but ok for not having a subwoofer. It also doesn't get quite as loud as I'd like but I like my music really loud. Basically, if you're looking for quality, this is for you. If you're looking for power, I'd look into an alternative (if there are any).

1] Why would you want to wake the neighbors?
2] The Bose system does have a subwoofer*; it is in the back on the right side.
3] Power and quality (clear) sound are not mutually exclusive, it is just very expensive, and best applied to home sound. High-powered distortion is on the other hand less expensive.
4] I find the system has plenty of volume (my opinion).

*Technically speaking it is a woofer; a sub-woofer produces frequencies near and/or below the range of human hearing as in home theater system, usually referred to as LFE (Low Frequency Effects). In a car they basically vibrate the crap out of the interior panels and components and well…wake the neighbors.
Test-drove C240 with Premium Sound yesterday, I liked it better than in C230K with standard..
Have the Bose system and like it just fine. But, I'm one of those people who believe the stereo in my car should not be better than the stereo in my living room. Bottom line, let your own ears be the judge.

I agree, in fact my home sound system wasn't that much cheaper than the car, the whole car. Though I bought it over several years, and it's constantly evolving.
