If you don't have a cd changer, it is not connected to anything via fiber. It is connectd to the steering wheel buttons via the CANBUS. If you change it, you can't use those buttons to change stations or volume, unless you get an Alpine headunit and an expensive interface.
C230 sedan sound system
Hey guys. New here.... the dealer called me today and said they got a hold of the C230 sedan I wanted. I pick it up either wed night or thurs. What is concerning me now is the sound system. Does anyone have any information regarding it? I got the stock with the changer in glove box. I was going to tear it out but after finding out it's fiber optic, I am wondering if it's worth the head ache.

The Becker Audio 10 does sound better than the Alpine cassette player installed in North American Mercedes'. I wouldn't say that it is better than all aftermarket units.
