This is the response I received from Kleeman USA on pulley upgrades for the 1.8L US spec. C230K.

Scott :(

"Thank you for contacting KLEEMANN USA! Unfortunately, we do not offer any engine performance upgrades for the C230. The supercharger on the new 1.8L engine is already spinning at maximum speed, so, increasing the rotational speed of the supercharger (increasing the boost) will kill the bearings very quickly. There is one company called Vaeth, out of Germany that makes a pulley kit for the 1.8 engine. I do not know of any company which distributes Vaeth products in the United States, so you would have to go directly to the source.
Please let me know if you have any other questions and thank you again for contacting KLEEMANN USA for your Mercedes-Benz tuning solutions!

Best Regards-

Brabus Kit

This is the reply I recieved this moening from Brabus, I have checked with Carlsson and Vaith and they are getting back to me. SInce Kleeman has a lot of supercharger experience I am concerned about their comment that a pulley kit will overdrive the bearings on the supercharger. Keep in minjd this is the US spec car we are talking about which is setup to produce the most HP in this motor from factory relative to the two versions in Europe, C180 and C200. We are also talking the M-271 motor.

Scott

"We have a performance kit for you vehicle called the K3 kit. This kit includes our performance exhaust, new smaller pulleys for higher boost, reprogrammed ecu, reprogramming for your top speed limiter, other minor upgrades and will bring your car up to 220HP. This kit costs $2,995.00 plus tax and $500.00 installation. Takes approximately 5 business days to install. Please let me know if you have any further questions or when you would like to schedule an installation. I look forward to hearing from you.

I calculated at 6000 RPM redline the supercharger is turning 14,000 RPM. Yet some of the new superchargers can take up to 16,000 for brief times.

It is nice to know what they are doing, unlike the M111 2.3L engine which used a larger crankpulley, the M271 kits are using a smaller supercharger nose pulley. By itself it should cost less than $200.

BRABUS is doing a complete system, and if they can get 220 HP it would be worth it for the $2,995.00 plus tax and $500.00 installation. I would be interested if they can prove the power output with dyno results.
