I was wondering what tool you all have used to change the fuel screen. I am working on a 1983 300D with a algea break out.

Thanks in advance.

I solved my own problem.

I found a 1 13/16" socket at Tractor Supply for $11. Hooked to a HD breaker bar it made short work of the old fuel strainer. Be careful though, if your old strainer is plugged up really bad, like after an algea out break, there will be about a gallon of fuel left in the tank even after unscrewing the fuel hose that screws into the strainer base has stopped dripping. A large oil pan will work to catch the fuel.

My benz is running much better now that its feeding tube is clear.

Thanks for the update. A friend of mine is doing this job very soon and I was waiting to see what he used. I guess now he can use your notes!
