I'd like to change the oil in my 2203 1.8 C-Coupe. I think 10,000 miles is too long. What's everybody else think? Is the canister on the driver's side rear of the engine where the oil filter goes? Looks like it's a 26mm wrench....

The oil filter is on the driver's side near the rear of the engine. I changed the oil early on my car, well the dealer changed it.

Is there any magic about getting the filter canister apart. It looks like a 26mm bolt on top.

I don't know for sure what to use to remove the oil filter on the 1.8. Most MB's incuding the 2.3 use a filter wrench sold by the dealer or often the local parts stores. It isn't expensive.
