any ideas? the windows will go up about 1/4" per button push or will go up if I assist by holding the glass and helping as the button is pushed. It is also very cold and my battery voltage via the climate control is reading about 12.4 V. Car is 98 E300

your windows are out of synchronization. this can happen because of low battery voltage or a host of other reasons. to rectify this, simply hold the button down half way (not enough to trigger the one touch operation, but enough to move the window up and down) and roll the window all the way up. continue holding the button for five seconds after the window has reached the top. now repeat the same step in the other direction and continue to hold the button for five seconds after it has opened all the way. your windows should be back to normal after this. the window motors use a hall effect sensor to read what position they are in. this sensor needs to know where its boundries are to have the express function work. by following these steps you are re-establishing the boundries for that sensor.
