I have a new 2004 CLK-320 and I found the suspension a bit soft for my taste. It has stock 16-inch all season tires.

What can I do to improve the suspension and how much?

To start with, try some new sway bars. A popular mod with C-class owners is to get the bars from a C32 AMG. You might try the bars for an E55. I don't know for sure if that will work, because the E55 has the trick air suspension. There should be aftermarket bars from Eibach, H&R and possible others. These bars will have little effect on ride, but will reduce body roll.

For a firmer ride, you can get springs from Eibach, H&R, Vogtland, KW, and others. Most of those also have coilovers, which are adjustable for height. When changing springs, you should probably change the shocks as well. The above companies often sell a "cup kit" which includes springs and shocks. Shocks are also available from Koni, Bilstein, Sachs and others.

Prices vary greatly according to what you get and who you buy from.
