Yup

Yea, I have a COMAND that was a factory install.

I absolutely love the thing. While it's everything you would expect for finding your way it's a whole lot more than that.

It's the ultimate toy for the ultimate toy. No C-coupe experience is complete without a COMAND.

I know full well how pricey the COMAND is in comparison with the rest of the car. In Canada, with sales tax, the COMAND is pretty much a $5,000 option... on a $35,000 car. But it's so worth it.

And I'm not some easily impressed kid either, I'm mid-thirties and have had several great fun cars... but the Comanded Coupe is by far the best all round.

My advice: Pay the premium, wait the custom order delivery time and get the COMAND with the car. :D

Steve Krabbenborg is selling them for $1300 installed. He is planning on being in the US at the end of the month. He will started with some installs in New York, make a stop in St. Louis to do mine then on the LA and San Francisco. He might be making a stop in Houston. See this for more details on his intinerary. His website is http://www.mbenz.nl/

Steve requires a $200 deposit payable via Paypal. An option for RCA connectors to connect various video sources is about $200. He can also supply an integrated Nokia phone. Don't know the price or model.

the command system looks great and all but i think for $1300+ its a rip off, specialy for someone who knows their way around town. if you guys are just looking to get it cuz it looks nice then get a flat screen tv for cheap and use that as a head unit.

I frequently go to places in St. Louis where I haven't been and don't know where they are. Businesses here often give an address that is in some strip shopping center instead of their actual street address. So the nav feature is useful to me. I looked at systems from Alpine, Pioneer and Blaupunkt. They were all over $3000 and closer to $4000. $1300 installed sounds pretty damned good to me.

I have seen pics of several aftermarket conversions in coupes. I don't care for the way they look. I prefer the stock appearance. In addition, once in a while the secure parking lot at work is full, and I have to park on the street in a poor neighborhood. The stock appearance is a great advatage over the "bling-bling steal me" appearance of the aftermarket units. Also, if it is stolen, the unit only fits in a few Mercedes models, and must be returend to Bosch to be unlocked before it is installed in another car. That is a real good theft deterent.

Use a flat panel? Where do you install it so that it does not advertise the presence of an expensive system, isn't easily stolen, and doesn't look like shit?

For those who want an aftermarket dvd system with a motorized display in the head unit, I recommend the highest priced Clarion. I saw one the other day, and it is awesome.

for yourself i can understand. i myself live in los angeles and frequently take trips to downtown la which isn't know as the safest place and the idea that the comand system needs a unlock code if stolen is great. i am more interested in appearance and show looks so yeah the clarion seems better. i would also much rather spend the $1300+ on performance mods or appearance mods. but on my clk on the other hand i would like to keep it classy and the show appearance isn't much of what im looking for so id be pretty interested in adding the command system in that car.
