I recently bought a 2003 C230 and I've been hearing a creaking noise coming from the roof. I just wanted to know if anyone else had experienced that problem, and if the dealer was able to fix it.
Thanks

My car has the sunroof. For sometime now, there is a creaking noise when you drive on roads other than highway. reported this to the dealer and the mercedes coorporation. It seems like there are lots of such cases reported and the german headquarters is working to fix this 'creak'. but as of now, it still creaks.
I've posted the same info in How Your C230 Performing? forum. I hope they find a fix for it soon. :?

Sunroof creaking noise

My '02 230k coupe has 320 miles on the odometer and I've noticed a slight creaking noise only a few times. The noise only seems to occur while the roof is closed and the pavement is in poor condition. It's not enough of a bother to mention to the dealer yet, but then again, 320 miles is a trip from San Francisco to Santa Barbara.

Sunroof

My car also had the same problem. It was very obnoxious. The dealer cleaned and lubricated it, and it stopped for 500 miles then came back. I took it back and they replaced the deflector. No noise. Good job. I am happy now.

I've had the same problem when the shade is open and I'm driving slowly. My girlfriend's Honda does the same thing so I figure it's just one of those things ya gotta deal with.

roof creek

My roof did the same. If you slightly put pressure on the back the roof with your finger it stops, so when I opened up the roof I noticed that there is a deep recess where the back part of the roof (rounded medal) rests. It doesn't "seat", in other words, there's no rubber seal so I went to the hardware store and for $2.50 bought a roll of high density rubber insulation with a sticky tape back. Its about 1/4 of an inck thick. I cut two strips that would fit in that recess and stuck one on top of the other and stuck that in that deep groove. It sound went away, the roof shuts flat, it doesn't leak and if you stick it in there straight, it looks totally factory.
Try it and see!
