If you are referring to cabin air filters they are behind the glove box. Remove six screws and pull out the box itself(not the door). You will see a white sliding lever. Slide it up or down and a door opens revealing the two cabin air filters. I have a 97 E320 and it should be about the same as yours.

The glove box can be a bit sticky when coming out. May need a bit of a tug to remove it. Also, make sure that cover for the dust filters seals very tight, or you will have a high pitched whistling noise from your climate control. Just double check it before everything goes back together and you should be fine.
