Newbie here to the forum, and also to mercedes. I just purchased a 2005 e320 CDI w ~ 12K on it. Stock tires (225/55 16") are Michelin energy plus- and so far I'm not impressed with them.

Could you advise me on:
1) dedicated Winter tire recommendation
2) dedicated summer recommendation

3) I'm reluctant to go with an all season (jack of all trades) unless there's something that really does both great? I live in Pennsylvania- so we do get some snow and ice.

Thanks for your help!

"All season" tires are barely adequate at any task they are asked to perform. For the money, I think Pirelli makes a damn good winter tire (Snowsport 240). The Michelins are over priced in this category. Of course the Blizzaks are always a good choice. If you are in an area that gets heavy snow, I would definaitely use Nokians.
Summers are a bit harder. The Michelins are probably the best choice (Pilot Sport, Pilot Sport 2's), albeit very pricey. The Pirelli Rosso's are a great summer tire for a little less money. For a budget summer tire, the BF Goodrich G-Force KDW is a good compromise.
