Does anyone know if the garage door opener on a 1997 E320 can be programmed for a rolling code?

my 98 E300 with the sun visor buttons work- I set it like...

any other transmitter. I push the program button on the opener, then hold the homelink button down on the visor until the opener signals it is accepted. I think it took several tries to do it but it has worked fine for 5 years now. Not sure if earlier models were the same.

I gave up on programming our garage door opener. After spending about an hour trying to get any one of our three openers (two different types) programmed, I just got frustrated wearing the garage doors out.

I called Genie at 1-(800) 354-3643. Genie referred to Intellicode. Intellicode E-mailed me instruction and also assisted me over the phone on the weekend on programming the remote in the car.

you need to find the learn button on the main unit in your gargage and press it same time with the one in your car. you obviously need an extra hand at this. this type of gargage opener prevent code grabber from thief.

Genie Garage Door Openers - Learn

Thank you Ken. I found this on the Genie website http://www.geniecompany.com/Support/replaceremote.htm:

I purchased an additional Remote Control:

If you have simply purchased an additional remote control and wish to program it and not delete any other device.

To program your new remote controls:

Simply, press and release the learn code button on the receiver, while the red LED is blinking, press your transmitter button 3 times. This will lock in a new code and you will be able to use your remote control normally. Repeat this process for each additional remote you have.

My roommate years ago took apart a remote and jammed it so it was on all the time, and added a momentary switch to one of the 9 volt battery leads. He put the remote under the seat, and ran the momentary switch out from under the seat. When he arrived home, he would reach for the switch and open the door.

The beauty of this is if your remote is out of sight, and out of the weather. You can mount the switch anywhere underneath where it is out of sight, and only you know where it is
