I have an beautiful 1984 380SE with a nasty problem:
When I open a window, the slight underpressure in the cabin, pulls in gasonline vapours from the engine room.
(When more windows are open the problem goes away as the pressure is leveled)

I heard a romour that this is due to the gas-pipe running from the gas tank to the enigine, being pulled apart by the underpressure.

Have anybody experienced or heard about this problem?

best wishes
/Lars

I don't have a lot of knowledge on these older cars. If there is an odor of petrol, it could be a safety issue. I would take the car into a tech to get it checked out. Fuel leaks are not something you really want to mess around with with.
