Hello everybody..
I would like to change the hood pad on my 1987 300E. Can anyone please tell me how to change it, and the right way too. Thanks.

The worst part of this job is removing the old, crumbling, hood pad. I've done it by opening the hood to the vertical position and they laying an old sheet across the engine compartment. Scrape as much of the old liner off without damaging the paint. I wipe down the area with a rag dipped in paint thinner to get the underside to the hood clean. If there's old foam or oil residue on the underside of the hood the new pad won't stick there for long. BTDT There's a great liquid contact cement for gluing the new pad in place but I can't remember the name. LEt me check and post that info. I would NOT use spray contact cement since it didn't work for me.

300E hood pad

I read on another MB froum where someone suggested the use of 3M trim adhesive. Actually I believe they specified 3M "super" trim adhesive or something like that; not just the regular type adhesive.
