It happened in a nice section of town in broad daylight. Some crazy dude jumped through my passenger window with a knife and told me to drive. I could tell he was tripping on dope. So I comically asked "where you wanna go man" he said a place about 45 minutes from here. I told him I didnt know how to get there so i neede to call someone to get directions. so i called tele-aid and told them someone was in the car with me with and knife and i needed to be tracked and to call local law enforcment. he didn't hear that though, he heard I need to know how to get to greensboro. So i started driving, towards greensboro on the interstate with my flahers on. 6 minutes later I had 2 state troopers on my tail. I told the guy to hold on and we will be right back on our way. the state trooper played a trick on the guy and told me to get out of the car and then they went in a arrested him. I had a 40 cal. Glock in the car but I didnt want to resort to that. the guy never really threatened to harm me, he was too high to do that. I will now not ride with my windows down as much.

"Kill the guy" with what?

I guess I'd listen to him, but it's great to have TeleAid.. otherwise I'd use my cellular ;)

It's good that everything worked out without any injuries!

How on Earth were you able to get all that across to the TeleAid operator with him sitting right next to you? Glad to read everything worked out alright.

Hi. If this is a true story, and the car jacker was cooperative enough to let you ask to be tracked, you are quite lucky. Though, my question is, shouldn't BENZ put in a hidden/silent alarm type button to call TeleAid so a real carjacker would not hear you speaking and asking for help?

yes and no

You have to have a license to buy and carry. But since I am only 19 the car is in dads name so "officer I just happened to be driving dads car today, I didnt know it was in here"
Officer, "really? Step out of the car and place your hands on the hood" places you in cuffs and reads you your rights. You think the police are that stupid? What the heck do you need a Glock for?

i voted for do what he says but would also progress to more aggressive measures depending on the level of threat in the situation. if it escalated to the point where my own life was in danger and i was incapable of restraining the attacker then the unfortunate latter of the two decisions offered would have to be carried out, especially if it involves the chance of bodily harm/injury to any of my family/loved ones. i know this is a serious response but you asked a really really really serious question in your poll

I had two guys try to car jack me about two years ago, or they were just trying to rob me. I was driving my work truck, and stopped at a pawn shop to buy a screwdriver. As I was getting in the truck after leaving the pawn shop, some bum-looking dude started walking up to me acting like he needed to talk to me, and I just happened to glimpse the other guy sneaking down the other side of my truck in my side view. I just turned the key, put in reverse and slammed the gas. I bagged the one walking up to me with the open door, but not good enough to keep him from getting up. He and his friend took off running. Lesson learned from this: Your car can be a weapon as effective as a gun. Of course, the cops never caught the guys. When they were running, I had about a two second window of oportunity to run the bastards over before they made it to the woods. I am still conflicted as to whether I should have done it. I'll never buy "do what he says" - most of these guys are looking at going back to the joint if caught, and witnesses are seen as an inconvenience.

Hi. Not sure what state you live in, but you have to be careful about using the car, or anything else, as a deadly weapon. In this particular case you'd be the one in trouble, unfortunately, though you would have rid the world of some scum by running them over. The cops would argue your life was NOT in danger - they were running FROM you. You did not call the cops and became a vigilante - they are frowned upon by law enforcement, God Bless Charles Bronson's soul for all the great vigilante movies he made. Even if they did come towards you and you ran them over some prosecutor would still go after you if the thugs did not have actual weapons on them. They would say you assumed they were after you. I am on your side and would support your defense fund :) but just wanted to throw in my two cents worth. More opinions at http://www.imran.com

Yeah, I know that, that's why I didn't drive over them - but I think I was within my rights to use the vehicle to defend myself at first, as the other guy was crawling in a crouched position along the passenger side of my car and I had observed th two of them together earlier. I think I would have met the definition of being in reseasonable threat of my life. But driving after them would have crossed the line. I will say, the combinition of fear and anger makes thinking clearly damn difficult - I don't know how the cops do it everyday.

In an ideal world they run away without harming you, one gets run over by the cops who are on their way to save you and the other dies of a heart attack at seeing his partner crushed like that. :) You will wish you had your camera with you :) :)
