Is front-center speaker grille magnetic?
I am about to buy a small, active GPS antenna which has a magnetic mount and I want to know if it will adhere to the speaker grille on the top of the dash.

Does anyone know if it's ferromagnetic or aluminum or what?

(Yes, I know I could simply put a magnet on it and tell but, as a city dweller, getting to my car in the garage is not a simple task.)

I don't think that's actually the speaker. I believe it's an air vent.

The front-center grill is in fact steel. The holding power of a magnet is about half of what it is on non-perforated sheet metal. I doubt that the antenna magnet will interfere with the optional Bose ambient speaker mounted below the grill if equipped, but it is possible.

Thanks. That is, indeed, good news. The antenna is only a few grams, so even a weak attraction should be sufficient.

BTW, it is for a Garmin iQue 3600 which is a combination GPS/PDA with voice-guidance and auto-routing.
