I plan on purchasing a C230K sport sedan this summer. My only concern is the reliability of the C230 kompressor engine versus, say the C320 normally aspirated engine. Is the supercharger, as an extra part, prone to failure or is that component fairly durable? Thanks! :D

During my ownership of an SLK230 (Same Engine) my 'Kompressor' did in fact fail, but it did so under warranty. I happened to be at the shop the same day that the Western Canadian Service manager for MB was there, and he was very surprised. It was the first in the history of my dealership for that engine... they have been under this current ownership for 12years.

Hope that helps.

BTW... wow the engine is gutless without the K!

look at it this way...

MB has been making supercharged engines for about 50 years now. Not every car is perfect and there will always be superchargers with problems, but im thinking with that history they've got to know what they are doing.

Although it is an MB don't expect perfection.

Best of luck!
