Hey guys,
My dad has a restored 1972 350sl in the garage and the roof was working fine when he bought it, but now it doesnt go down all the way so the torneu cover wont lock down :? . Any suggestions on why? any help would be great, thanks!

PS. its the cloth convertible cover that won't go down, not the hard top

Roof

The roof mechanism is a hydraulic one. Find the resevoir (it's under the spare in my 500sl) and fill up the fluid.

It is not hydraulic! SL's did not use hydraulic tops on the SL's until model year 1990.

Be careful the way you are folding the top into the compartment. They like to buch up at the corners and fight against the tonneau.
