Help!!!!! This is driving me KNUTTSSS!

After driving for a while and returning home when I shift from drive into park the rpms go from 750-800 to 2500-3000rpms. I have lubricated the throttle linkages replaced most of the throttle components including a new spring with the same results. If I butterfly the gas pedal it goes back to acceptable rpms. In addition I have replaced most of the vacuum lines.

One suggestion was

Either the linkage is binding or the base setting is too high.

My subesequent question is if the linkage is binding is it somewhere in the entire throttle mechanism. If so what is the easiest way to determine where it is binding and resolve the problem? Also, what is meant by the base setting too high? If it helps I had a valve adjustment about 2 months ago.
