Right now I have a 2000 Ford Contour that I bought new in 99. It's a great car, and I baby it a lot. A lot of people hear me talk about how much I wash and wax it, and they ask: "Do you have a Mercedes/Cadillac/Lexus or what?!"(lol) A lot has changed since 99 though. I have a great job that pays well, as does my wife. I feel that I deserve a little more than the Contour has to offer. I am currently looking to purchase a 1999 MB C230 Kompressor. My sister is willing to purchase my Contour. Here is the run down:

1999 MB C230 Kompressor
4 cyl turbo
9,975 miles (that's right!)
Smoke silver
always garaged
Moonroof, leather
EC inside and out
Asking 23.9K (negot.)

Is this a good/reliable car? I have yet to see it, but I want to know if it's worth it. I am not familiar with MBs, are all C230 Kompressors turbo? Please help as I would like to go into it with the upper hand. Also, I am 22...will the insurance kill me? Thanks.

Close the the right forum, but not quite. This forum is for the new C sportscoupe. But I'll try to answer some questions and point you to some W202 forums. W202 is the internal MB model designation for the generation of c-class you are cosidering.

The engine is the same as those used in our 2002 coupes. It is called the best engine MB has ever put in an MB production car by many MB technicians. Edmunds.com shows a dealer retail price of $22,000 for that car. The private party price is $20370. Kelly blue book show a $22,000 private party price. The low miles will increase its price. Its consumer rating at Edmunds is 9 out of 10.

It should be a reliable car. It is supercharged, not turbocharged. The supercharger will last longer than a turbo, because it works at much lower temperatures. There are no farctory turbocharged Mercedes. Insurance shouldn't be too bad. It is a four door sedan, not a sports car.

$23,900 does seem to be too high.

Try checking out these forums.

That is not entirely true. In the US, as far as I know, the 1999 E300DT was the last of the factory Turbo's and also the last of the Diesels, but they are still produced and sold throughout the world.
