overheating

i would try a thermostat first. the advice you got is the most likelly causes. the thermostat is cheapest and very easy to install. it could also be a water pump or a head gasket, but the thermostat or radiator are the most likely choices

try this first

I had the same problem with my 94 e420

tuurned out to be a bad radiator cap which was not allowing the cooling system to pressurize properly

good luck
