I am thinking to buy a 2004 C230 sport sedan and I have the following questions on the options:

1. How good is the stock sound system as compared to the Bose? In other, does it worth the extra $1150 CAN?
2. Should I get the Anti-Theft Alarm System or get one after-market?
3. I now drive a 1998 Honda Prelude SH and it has 200 HP from its vtec engine. Someone told me I would have more fun with the Honda than the C230. What do you think?
4. If I get a 6-speed manual transmission, will it be harder to re-sell as compared to the automatic counterpart?

Thanks in advance for your help.

1. Only you can judge that. Try to listen to both.

2. The factory anti-theft system is very good.

3. The Honda has a much better power to weight ratio. On the other hand, the Mercedes has a much better impress the opposite sex ratio. What kind of fun do you want? I use my coupe for autocrossing and I have plenty of fun.

4. The automatic will have a better resale value.

I was told that Japanese horsepower is not measured the same as German's.

Is this a correct statement? If so, what is the approximate conversion factor?

I just got my 04.5 C230 sedan a week ago so I can answer your
questions.

1. How good is the stock sound system as compared to the Bose? In other, does it worth the extra $1150 CAN?

The stock sound system is pretty weak to my taste. I'm thinking
about getting an after-market one. I don't know how good the Bose
one sound though.

2. Should I get the Anti-Theft Alarm System or get one after-market?
I thought the C230 comes with alarm and it's okay. I don't see the
need for an after-market one.

3. I now drive a 1998 Honda Prelude SH and it has 200 HP from its vtec engine. Someone told me I would have more fun with the Honda than the C230. What do you think?
I used to drive a '98 Eclipse Turbo which has about 205HP and honestly,
the Eclipse response way better than the 230. The 230 feels more like
driving a Civic VTEC...but it looks sexy especially with the Xenons. My
friend had a '98 Prelude too so I had the chance to drive it many times.
And yes, the Prelude would be more fun to drive.

4. If I get a 6-speed manual transmission, will it be harder to re-sell as compared to the automatic counterpart?
Yes, not many people will want a manual sedan. Even an auto Eclipse
Turbo has a higher demand than a manual one! I guess people just
like to drive auto now.

Thanks in advance for your help.
