I have a 2014 SL550 R231 and it's time to replace the brake pads on the rear. The cost from Mercedes is $1091.00 after a 10% discount. I have replaced the brake pads on all of my cars but have not done it on my SL550. Wondering if anyone has completed their own brake pad replacement as well as recommended pads to purchase? Any tips you may have on how to do the job would be welcomed?

My guess is they replace the rotors as well for that $. If you want to do it yourself, like I do, I just get some pads online and swap 'em out. It usually works fine, but it squeals I have to go in and do something about it. Like put some of that anti-squeak on the back of the pads, or even power sand the rotors if it's being difficult. Yeah it's redneck but it works. Last time I did a front set and it was like $50 for the pads? I recall it because it squeaked so I had to sand.
