anyone know if there are straight-pipes (ie. no cats or resonators) for the C32, if yes, by which company? supersprint makes a nice system (front pipe and centre pipe) for the M3.

i'm in the middle of a purchasing dilemna (C32 vs. M3) so i figure that i'll let the performance options help with the decision! believe me, this has been one of the biggest hassles i've encountered!

if the price is reasonable, i might have the dealer specify that AMG builds the car with a 6spd manual as a one-off. :evil:

This is probably ignorant on my part. Couldn't a custom exhaust shop just cut a pipe to the required length?

Straight pipes are illegal from two standpoints. First, is the noise. Second and more importantly is emissions. No shop is going to build an exhaust system without the cats, unless you sign a document stating the system is for off road (racing) only.

AMG will NOT build you a six speed. You would have to have a shop like Renntech do the conversion for you. The cost would probably be in excess of two thirds of the cost of the C32.

In response to the question of straight pipes I own a 1984 380SE with a lorinser 560 engine (approx.385HP) I had the cats removed and a 3" stainless exhaust made for it. The pipes joinat the rightside of the motor single to the rear where they are choked to 2 3/4 and then split into a Ractive twin resonator tip( approx. 6" long each ) this setup is extremly freeflowing and because of the way a Benz motor is timed (firing order) it meets all decibal level requirements. It is only slightly louder than a viper or new corvette.

Lolz. Yeah. Like he said it's gonna produce a noise but I'm not sure if they called it the open pipe. Open pipes are hot specially on emission testers here in our area.

First of all, we know its illegal... Just find some grim-ball to do the exhaust work dont listen to that moron above - you dont have to sign dam paper relax captain* I have 2004 CLK500 (with Eisenmann Race Exhaust!) on my ride theres 4 cats* plus one resnator* I removed the two rear cats and that dam resnator! (Dont make that mistake and remove the front cats!!! Your engine check light will for surely click on and your on your own after that....happen to a few friends) Anyways, This Beast Sounds Ridiculous!!! Reminds me of Lambo Gallardo mixed with Ford GT but twice as DEEP... Haha ok almost =)

Regarding your post? That c32 is supercharged and mods will be highly appreciated unlike that m3, however that BMW will run circles around every Benz under 350hp* Completely forgot that tranmission BS (that will cost you some serious money!) Kleemann, Renntec, Losinor, Brabus or Eisenmann* Save yourself the $money$ and straight pipe the rest =) the results will be the same....
