Off the top of my head, my first guess would be THIS, but I'd have to check some references to be sure.

update!

OK, apparently another potential culprit could be the tach amp, which is a cylindrical bit that might be on the left side of the engine compartment atop the wheel well. You can remove this, and take it apart. Apparently the inner circuitry can separate from the case and become loose. To tighten it up, you just insert a piece of foam, or a cigarrete butt (!), or what have you, between the board and the case to tighten it up and reassemble it.
