They are potentially really good cars. But they have to be well maintained. I'd look for maintainance records. They tend to start having a few steering and suspensions components wearing out at about 60k miles (100k km).

The engines themselves are able to last several hundered thousand if they're well maintained, and not babied around too much. These engines like to be driven hard to prevent carbon and sludge buildup.

I'd try to look at a 99 or newer. If you do find an older one, see if it's ever had the transmission replaced. If it has, it'd probably be ok. But the older transmission had a brass support bushing in the transmission that tend to fail at 60-100k miles. If the trans was replaced, it should have a newer bearing to replace that bushing that should never wear out.
