Recently put new tires/rims on my 2003 SL 500 and want to turn off the tire pressure monitor alert that comes on every time I start the car or shut it off with the message...turn on tire pressure monitor? Lists as a malfunction

This is spelled out quite well in your owner's manual. It is a function that can be accessed through the multi-function dislplay using your steering wheel buttons. I don't have a manual infront of me, so I don't have the exact sequence, but it should be fairly simple.

The manual tells you how to turn it off, however, the alert keeps coming on asking you if you want it turned on

Unfortunately you will have to press a button every time you start the car to clear the message. It is possible to retrofit the tire pressure moniters from your factory rims to the ones you currently have installed on the vehicle. THis would solve the problem and re-activate the system, which is a rather pricy option to begin with.
