I recently replaced the B2 piston in my 83 300SD. My next project is getting the vacuum system fixed up.

What I’m wondering is: Are the vacuum control valves located on top of the valve cover used ONLY for the ERG? After looking at the vacuum diagram i came to that conclusion, but I could be wrong.

Both of my valves need to be replaced, but if they only are used for the ERG i dont think i will replace them, because i see allot of people disabling their ERG. If i just block the vacuum from the supply to the valves can they just sit there and do nothing, or will this cause me other problems?

Any advice would be appreciated

I'm not crtain which valves you are talking about, but perhaps this link posted by RivermasterNC can help:

The EGR controls on my '87 were removed and performance was significantly increased.
