My '04 C240 is collision-experienced. The oil filter housing was broken off the front cover. Anyone replaced this mess before? Any tips? I know it will be a big job. Any thoughts on the best crank pulley removal technique? My impact wrench didn't do it and, being an automatic, it is difficult to hold the pulley while using a breaker. Thanks!

My best advise is to find a piece of cardboard and make a template of the front cover. When you remove each bolt, place them in that exact spot on the template. There are a few different sizes and it is very easy to get confused doing this.

As for the crank pulley, you are going to need a bigger persuaion device.

I do not recommend using this as a learning process on your 112 motor. A job of this scope is best left to professionals (which you may well be). There are too many opportunities to really mess things up, and if not done properly, the front cover will leak anyways and you'll be pulling it all back apart.
