In May of this year I purchased this super clean and functional 07 E350 4Matic with 80K, all of which were Ohio miles. Though there is little to no body rust, there were a lot of rusty bits (hangers, sheilds, suspension parts, etc.). I got it for what I felt was a excellent market price. l was well aware of several of its issues when I bought it, one of which was a pronounced deep suspension rattle in the right rear. Long story short, I have since replaced at all four corners, the coil springs, upper and lower control arms (and bushings), and CV shafts. No shocks or struts were replaced since they appeared to be OK (no leaks and compressable). The rattle is still there same as before and the ride is super stiff now too. The rear bounces like a jackhammer on washboard bumps, but otherwise it handles great. The rattle is likely from the shock or the upper shock mount bushing and the obvious (to me) next step is to replace both the rear shocks (and bushings). I would like hear any thoughts on my journey or suggestions on replacements (OE or aftermarket).
