I recently acquired an 85 300 SD & have been looking for a decent shop manual. The local shop recommended against the MB software (they use another online service) & I haven't been able to find a good manual. I' want something other than Haynes that has complete vacuum & wiring diagrams. Your thoughts will be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on you purchase!

I think the best engine manual is probably the factory's printed shop manual. I don't know if you can still get them from a dealer, but I often see them on e-bay.

Really, I can't say that any one manual is going to do the trick for everything, but most of the aftermarket books often lack torque specs and the like. I try to avoid chilton's.

Check the vaccum diagram link pasted at the top of the forum for some help in that area.

Thanks Cracker. I'll keep looking on Ebay as I was told by MB that only the software available. How do you like your Dodge? That's another vehicle that people who drive them become fanatics about.

The dodge has been great! My only complaint is that it is a gas hog.
