Hi, my name is Sommer and I live in Gainesville, Florida. I have been researching this car since last year with plans to buy one this year. Well the time has finally come :p and I am excited to say the least. I am currently driving a 1993 ford explorer and it is time for a Benz. I have gathered a lot of information mainly off of the Internet. Edmunds.com provided me with invoice prices and MSRP prices. I am looking for a black C230 with the C5 package and auto transmission. The total invoice price for a 2002 C230 w/options is $27,659.00 and the MSRP is $29, 690.00. What would be a fair price to pay for this vehicle? I was able to get one dealer in Miami to say he would sell me the car $100 over dealer invoice and would provide me with a copy of the invoice. Does anyone think I can do any better. I am willing to bargain, and actually enjoy it. I am the one spending the money and feel I have the upper hand. Can anyone provide me with any tips or suggestions that helped them when they were shopping for their MB? Any help is greatly appreciated :!:

Sincerely,
Sommer

Go to some of the on-line buying services such as carsdirect.com, autobytel.com, carpoint.com etc., and they will tell you at what price they can buy car for you based on the zip code of the dealer. Keep in mind that they keep $500 for doing the deal. Take those prices and start negotiating at about $1000 below the price they quote. That will allow you to negotiate up $500 to the price the dealer will sell the car for.

C230 buying

Call Jimmy ADams at 407-645-4222, Mercedes Benz of Orlando. He is the internet sales person and usually you can get the C230 for $500 to 700 over invoice. He will locate a car with exactly what you want that is somewhere in the MB system (Germany--at sea--in port) and transfer it. The dealer is happy since they still have the holdback (3 % of MSRP) coming to them and they have sold a car outside of their usual sales area.

Fly down to see Mickey and drive back home!

Hi, I actually have now decided to get the c230 sedan. I am in real estate and it is more practical.

I was able to get the C230W auto, cd changer, c2 package for $700 over dealer invoice. So roughly it will cost me $30, 650.00.

Anyway, let me know what you think of my deal. My car is on the ship right now and will be here next week :D

Thanks,
Sommer

Sommer, Please let us know how you like the sedan when you get it. When it comes time to trade the coupe (couple of years from now) I'll be interested in the sedan.

I hope that's the same ship mine is on. If I'm lucky it will stop in NE before it's trip down to you so I can pick up my c230k sedan! :D

That's actually a pretty good deal, I ordered mine auto, c2 (what car doesn't have this option), c4, heated seats and cd changer al for the lovely invoice price.

Picking up my c230 coupe on thursday, 24567.00 after wheeling and dealing. Ask the dealer about a loaner car program. Even though mine has only 230 miles, Mercedes has a deal to allow the dealer to dicount these greatly. Sticker was 30500.00. We got to the odd price because of a payment I wanted.
