Nope...not if you consider sucking down 21% oxygen at 101 feet having to "work" 8)

I made it about halfway through the book I was reading in Mexico..."The 9/11 Commission Report" 8O

Between trying to tie up all my loose ends before surgery and my ISP going down for a few days there hasn't been much opportunity to read/post. What is your schedule looking like on Saturday Howie? I know it is getting close the big day for y'all, but I might be ahead enough to jam on over to your side of town.

I was wondering that myself.

I browse the other board from time to time and noticed it's getting really ugly. Grown men (at least I think they are) name calling like 12 year olds. It almost embarrasing.

Howdy All,
Saturday was a work day. When I got home I had to drain my water bed because one of the dogs took one of his flying leaps and broke the frame. So I had waterbed hanging off the platform. Then I had to get things ready for Sunday because that was the first competitive run for the dogs this season. So I am up at 2 am Sunday so I can drive 2 1/2 hours to get to the field that the dogs are going to run in. I get home at 8 pm and I'm a little tired so by 9 pm i'm in bed (not my waterbed). Monday I'm out shopping for a regular mattress. So that is why I haven't posted. And that was the short version of my weekend.

this place is a lot more sedate, but also gets much less traffic I think... not sure why... I'd like to see the decorum of this board reflected over yonder, but I doubt that will happen any time soon.

It's civilized because the element that ruined MBshop is not here

It just happens that the crowd with a life happens to be here.

...almost, almost?!? Go ahead and say it...it IS embarassing!!!! The level of ad hominem has grown in proportion to our proximity to the election. Given the close nature of the race, I don't see an end to this trend after the election either. Expect and endless string of partisan posts regarding the legal intricacies involved with voting scandals in tight states. In short, it'll probably get uglier before it gets civil again.

As for style, In person, I regularly utter a pretty salty vernacular, but I really find it to be tedious and offensive to read repeatedly. Not unlike porn--way too over the top. A tastefully arranged bit of clothing over the naughty bits is typically more erotic than the full monte.

I've had to limit my internet access here at work. They tried to disable all the computers outside the main office, but I found a way around it. So I can sneak in here from time to time.

When I look at the posters from that other place, the offending parties are for the most part names I don't recognize. They're either aliases and obviously some trolls. So I don't even bother to "engage" anymore.

It take too much time to wade through the insults or 4 pages of material just to make a simple point. For the most part, that other place is much like a men's bathroom stall. SO EASY to throw around rude comments and insults, and of course it all stinks.

I still wish the old shop was around...
MBshop's OD was sort of like a men's lounge (with a few babes that liked to smoke cigars and go tet a tet with the old boys :) ) Good natured debate, complete with appropriate salty comments. Great breadth of topics: Politics, women, wine, food, pets, pop culture, and of course other cars besides Mercs.

Agreed! M-Shop was the first forum I ever got involved with, and I didn't get into the O.D. forum there for awhile. But once I did, I was hooked.
Now I don't get that involved with any of them anymore(I'm into 5 others). Kinda got burnt out with all the bickering and single-minded posts that went on there.
i'm kinda hoping we can slowly rejuvinate the old place here.

Ditto :)
I suppose it could happen, but we need a few more dozen members.

It seems alot of us here don't have the time to post new topics on a daily basis. It easy enough to cut and paste headline from the NYT like the other place, but choosing a topic that isn't related to politcs requires some more imagination.

I got real busy in my practice, so I have been in and out, but have tried to monitor the posts. I am in for the haul, so let's keep it going if possible.
