I just bought a 1984 300D Turbo and i was having troubles getting it past 40 clicks. I suspect it might just be that it needs a tune up but does anybody know what the first thing i should check for is?

It is not supposed to be a speedy car off the line.

Replace fuel filters regularly and ensure that fuel injectors are not clogged. I had success using a fuel injector cleaner with every other fill up and never had problems with clogged injectors. In Minnesota, I used a product called Sea Foam, great stuff.

I would stay away from any modifications to make it go "faster."

I haven't worked with alot of the old D's in my short career, but I have ran into a few of them that were slow in acceleration caused by no turbo boost. I'm trying to remember exactly what the problem was, but if I remember correctly, it was some vacuum switchover valve. I forget what exactly. I'm usually not the one to work on the older stuff.
